Ford is issuing two safety recalls in the U.S. for the Escape and Lincoln MKC crossovers.
The first recall affects the 2014 Ford Escape and 2015 Lincoln MKC models and affects 12,205 units in the U.S. According to the American automaker, both models have an issue with the nickel plating on the fuel pump that can cause the pump to seize. In the case where the pump seizes, the vehicle may not start or stall while driving increasing the risk of a crash. Affected Ford Escape vehicles were manufactured from April 15, 2014 to May 8, 2014 while the 2015 Lincoln MKC vehicles were built April 21, 2014 to May 15, 2014.

In a separate recall for the 2015 Lincoln MKC, the American automaker is recalling 13,574 units to move the push-button keyless ignition switch location. Currently the switch’s location is to close to other controls and occupants are inadvertently shutting off the engine while driving. Dealers will replace the gearshift module with one that has the push-to-start button in a different location and will reprogram the powertrain control module.
The American automaker said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to either recall.
